Tracon Ecocombi has an extensive LHV program. We are the only one in Europe to have developed a vehicle for each allowed LHV combination. The most striking developments are those of the LHV Combitrain and LHV plug dolly and semi trailer. Thanks to this extensive range, Tracon Ecocombi is eminently capable of correctly advising you which LHV combination is the best for your situation. Tracon Ecocombi has delivered many LHV vehicles to Scandinavia. Many leading companies are also driving on the Dutch roads with Tracon Ecocombi LHV's.
We will also be happy to serve you in respect of adapting and converting your existing fleet to LHV use, so we can offer you an overall solution.
LHV is officially permitted in the Netherlands. However, there are specific requirements for the LHV combination and the driver. Here below a list of the main requirements:
-the company needs to dispose of a Basic LHV Dispensation;
-the driver must have had his EC driving license and relevant experience for at least 5 years;
-the driver may not have had any driving disqualification for the last 3 years.
-the driver must have a valid LHV certificate (2 day course).
-maximum length of the entire LHV combination is 25.25 meters (standard 16.50 meters for the road tractor-trailer or 18.75 meters for the truck-trailer, central axle or swivel trailer.);
-a cantilever lift or truck mounted forklift on the LHV trailing semi trailer will count towards the maximum length;
-the minimum total loading length should be 18.00 meters;
-the maximum total load length should be 21.82 meters;
-maximum weight of the whole LHV combination (GVW) is 57.5 tons for a two-axle road tractor and 60 tons for a three-axle road tractor (leading axle is sufficient);
-tractor power: 5 KW per ton GVW. On the license plate of the road tractor, the maximum permissible GVW is indicated;
-turning circle of LHV combination: outer radius 14.50 meters (standard 12.5 meters), inner radius 6.50 meters
-the LHV combination is allowed to have a maximum of two swivel points;
-all vehicles in the LHV combination must have an LHV note on the vehicle registration document (code 134);
-to be eligible for an LHV note on the vehicle registration document all vehicles must comply with the LHV requirements and be inspected.
-not allowed in case of fog or slippery road surface;
-The driver is responsible for ensuring that the composite LHV combination complies with the law (turning circle!);
-it is not allowed to drive in urban areas without dispensation;
-it is not allowed to pass railway crossings;
- it is not allowed to transport cattle, indivisible load, liquids or hazardous substances;
-because of its stability, it is not permitted to only (mainly) load the rear vehicle;
-on the digital map of the National Service for Road Traffic can be seen where it is allowed to drive with a basic dispensation: Digital LHV Map
LHV closed box truck, dolly, trailer
When you have a fleet consisting of closed box trucks and trailers, the choice of purchasing a Dolly would in economic terms be the most advantageous investment. Especially when you first want to get some experience with LHV. If however you are considering to purchase a new truck with Dolly, you may want to take into consideration whether a road tractor with short Combitrain is a better alternative. We can build the Dolly extensively to your requirements: thermally galvanised chassis, four different coupling heights, height-adjustable fifth wheel, adjustable draw bar, etcetera. Our Trailer Configurator allows you to assemble the Dolly according to your preferences, with extensive options and possibilities, including prices.
LHV closes box truck, central axle, central axle
An infrequent LHV combination. The best known being the LHV combinations of Plieger we have supplied since 2004. This LHV combination is particularly preferred for the transport of swap bodies or volume transport (low floor height). Because of the possibility to exchange the order of the central axle trailers, more flexibility is created. Note that in terms of length only custom-swap bodies can be used. Because of the stability of the entire LHV applying a ramp or a truck mounted forklift on the rear central axle is not recommended. We can build the LHV central axle trailer extensively to your requirements: thermally galvanised chassis, different coupling heights, adjustable draw bar, pneumatic operation of the trailer coupling, etcetera. Our Trailer Configurator allows you to assemble the LHV central axle trailer by selecting the default central axle trailer of your choice first and then selecting the trailer coupling at the LHV options. As such you can assemble the LHV central axle trailer according to your preferences, with extensive options and possibilities.
LHV road tractor, trailer, central axle
Particularly in the trial period of LHV in the Netherlands this is a frequently chosen combination. It is an economically sound decision provided you are driving with a fixed LHV combination and flexible exchange of vehicles en route is not important. Otherwise, we recommend you to consider an LHV Combitrain. We can build the LHV trailer extensively to your requirements: thermally galvanised chassis, different coupling heights, adjustable draw bar, pneumatic operation of the trailer coupling, etcetera. Our Trailer Configurator allows you to assemble the LHV trailer by selecting the default trailer of your choice first and by then selecting the trailer coupling at the LHV options. As such you can assemble the LHV trailer according to your preferences, with extensive options and possibilities.
LHV road tractor plug trailer, plug dolly, trailer
An LHV configuration which was introduced to the market in 2009. This LHV version is based on the dividable container chassis which has been commonplace in the container world for years. Here, a plug-in rear portion is slid into the front chassis part by means of a large fixed draw bar. Hence, two separate vehicles, which together form one vehicle.
For distribution transport a cantilever lift may be required, this is possible on the LHV plug trailer with plug dolly. In addition to the possibility of the use of standard rear closing tail lift, the advantage with this B-double version with "plug dolly" is that the rear trailer does not have to be disconnected for a loading dock. The driver can leave the plug dolly under the vehicle and, in addition to light and air lock, he only needs to release the draw bar lock. This LHV model can also be supplied with through-loading facility.
The plug-trailer with plug dolly is the alternative for the LHV Combitrain. The Combitrain has the advantage of lesser own weight and less maintenance and failures, since it involves one vehicle instead of two. The Combitrain however, can only be constructed with a slider lift under the vehicle. We will be happy to advise you on which LHV combination is the right solution for you. We can extensively build the LHV plug trailer with plug dolly to your requirements. Our Trailer Configurator allows you to assemble these according to your preferences, with extensive options and possibilities, including prices.
